What is ALTBA?

The purpose of Avon Lake Travel Basketball is to further develop Avon Lake basketball players in 3rd - 6th grade. This development of skills is done in a competitive setting with practice opportunities, regular season games and tournament games.

ALTBA athletes demonstrate basketball fundamentals, skills and abilities that exceed the typical recreational league player.

ALTBA teams usually practice twice per week in AL. Practice days are determined once the season begins and are usually not Fridays or Saturdays. Travel League games are on Sundays and can be any time from 8 am to 5 pm at several locations, including in AL, Avon, Rocky River, Amherst, Strongsville, Medina, and other potential surrounding city locations. Each team plays 12 league games starting in December and ending in February.

ALTBA teams also have the opportunity to play in several local tournaments.  In a typical season each ALTBA team is guaranteed three tournaments including, but not limited to, our very own ALTBA hosted War on the Shore tournament.

ALTBA coaches are volunteers that are selected by the Executive Board.

ALTBA will thoughtfully create A and B teams when necessary.

ALTBA is passionate about giving back to the community.  Over the years our program has made donations to various programs in Avon Lake.

ALTBA hosts open gyms in the Summer and all AL 3rd - 6th grade boys and girls are welcome to attend.

If your child does NOT make an ALTBA travel team our hope is that he or she remains in the AL recreation basketball league.  This will provide your child with the opportunity participate in basketball while continuing to develop his or her skills.
